About Keith:

Keith Parker, RBEC, CBECxP, CCS, CCCA has been with REI Engineers since 2006 where he currently serves as Solution Executive, leading and supporting their Building Enclosure Services across all regions of the company. His role assists in developing, training, and delivering comprehensive building enclosure solutions, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external clients to drive growth and service excellence. Keith is an active member of IIBEC, BEC-Charleston and various other industry organizations. When not working, Keith enjoys traveling and a good craft brewery. He enjoys developing relationships within the Chapter and is excited to meet new members this year!

About Allan

With nearly 40 years of experience in the roofing and building enclosure industry, Allan is widely respected for his expertise in commercial and residential roofing systems, forensic investigations, quality assurance, and reroofing project administration. A longtime member of International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants since 1988, Allan has served in numerous leadership and technical roles within the organization, including the Technical Advisory Committee and as a past Carolina Chapter President. He is a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), a recognized instructor for IIBEC educational programs, and a recipient of the Carolina Chapter Lifetime Achievement Award. Allan brings extensive real-world experience in reroofing, diagnostics, and roofing technology that will provide valuable insight for attendees

About Rick:

Rick is a nationally recognized leader in building envelope consulting with decades of experience in roofing, waterproofing, and exterior wall systems. He holds numerous prestigious IIBEC credentials, including Registered Roof Consultant, Registered Waterproofing Consultant, and Registered Roof Observer. Rick has played a pivotal role in developing industry education, contributing to exam development, and teaching courses that shape the next generation of consultants. A past president of RCI (now IIBEC) and a frequent speaker at national conferences, he brings a wealth of practical knowledge and real-world insight to rooftop quality assurance.

Speaker – Scott Hinesley PE, RRC, F-IIBEC

About Scott:

For nearly 30 years, Scott has served in various roles with REI Engineers, Inc. (REI) and is currently the firm’s Chief Growth Officer; overseeing Marketing and Business Development efforts as well as Mergers and Acquisitions. Hinesley received his degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University and worked for a multiservices engineering firm in Raleigh, North Carolina, for several years before joining REI in 1998.

For over 25 years, he has been an active member of IIBEC and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) with leadership roles in both organizations; prior positions include President of IIBEC, President of the NC Chapter of ACEC/NC, National Director of ACEC, Region Director of IIBEC and President of the Carolinas Chapter of IIBEC. He is currently the Chair of the IIBEC Nominating Committee and a member of the IIBEC Education Committee.  He previously served terms on the IIBEC Ethics Committee, the IIBEC Technical Advisory Committee, the IIBEC Interface Editorial Board, the ACEC/NC Legislative Committee and the ACEC/NC Buildings and Infrastructure Committee.

Hinesley is a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), a licensed professional engineer, and a member of the IIBEC Jury of Fellows. He also serves on the board of directors for the RCI-IIBEC Foundation.

 

 

Speaker – Derek Hodgin, PE, RBEC, CCCA, F-IIBEC

Derek Hodgin, P.E., RBEC, CCCA, F-IIBEC is the owner of Positive Friction Consulting (PFC), which Hodgin created for the sole purpose of teaching about building better. Hodgin has served the industry for nearly 30 years as a forensic engineer and expert witness, but has recently retired from that role to share what he has learned through PFC. Over his career Hodgin became a licensed Professional Engineer in 23 states and earned credentials as a Registered Building Enclosure Consultant and Construction Contract Administrator, among many others. In 2020, Hodgin was inducted as a Fellow in IIBEC to honor his contributions to the industry, including numerous technical articles and presentations related to construction issues. Most recently, Hodgin published “More Than 100 Ways to Build Better – A Contractor’s Field Guide to Better Practices” in an effort to educate the industry about common sense ways to improve the durability and safety of the built environment. When not teaching about construction, Derek enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, listening to music of all types, and SCUBA diving on coral reefs while practicing his underwater photography skills.
